A life-size cardboard Killer Tofu carton danced around a few Doug Funnies and several Patti Mayonnaises. The carton of bean curd moved its mouth up and down, pretending to sing the lyrics to the song "Killer Tofu" by The Beets. Shortly after, Quailman jumped on stage to make his appearance.

Honors College advisor dies

Antonia McMenamin, better known as "Toni," a long-time faculty member of the Pennoni Honors College, died early May 13 after a long-time battle with cancer.

McMenamin, who suffered from leukemia and became prone to infections in recent months, was removed from life support May 10, according to Mark Greenberg, dean of the Honors College.

Stephen Stakey, a freshman at Stony Brook University, passed out during the annual Roth Regatta on May 2. He was taken to the Stony Brook University Medical Center where he died later that day. He was 19.

The cause of Stakey's death is still unknown, pending an autopsy, his mother, Cathy Stakey, said.

Controversy continues to mount over the ever-rising bar for gaining admission to CUNY senior colleges.

The beginning of this year marked the implementation of the toughest admissions requirements since the 1998 termination of CUNY's open admissions. CUNY's 2007 decision to raise the required cutoff for SAT and New York State Regents math scores went into effect this past admissions season, with a higher cutoff for SAT and New York State Regents verbal scores soon to follow.
